Cushions for Wicker Furniture Stand up to the Elements
The benefits of wicker furniture cannot be denied, but it comes with a number of equally undeniable faults, as well. Unless
you can think of a better way to acquire corduroy marks on your pants than sitting it on any bare wicker surface. But how do you cushion
something that, nine times out of ten, sits outside all the time? The idea of convenience isn’t to lug pillows in and out of doors, right?
But good wicker furniture cushions are often made from easy to maintain synthetics, such as polyurethane, and stuffed full of materials
that do not easily attract mold and mildew. Does this ruin the idea of a natural, outdoor look? Not at all. The human eye, when looking at
furniture, more often strays towards its legs and its back than to the seat and if you choose your wicker furniture cushion to match the color
and tone of the wicker weaves, then the synthetics won't disrupt the look and feel of your furniture selection.
Newer fabrics used for outdoor furniture cushions have the feel of upholstery but are constructed of materials highly resistant to fading from
the sun or rot and mildew from humid or wet conditions. In Southern climates, some fading is to be expected from the fierce summer Sun but
this can be minimal for wicker furniture placed in a shaded area or can be prevented by using covers when the furniture is not in use.
