Invest in Solar Power for Your RV
The major advantage of a solar powered RV is that you only only have to make one investment – the solar panels and
possibly a rechargeable battery block. Rather than constantly buying replacement batteries, you can simply create a small-scale power grid in
your RV.
What are some additional considerations you should make for your solar power RV? You may want to mount your solar panels on a
controllable, rotating platform. This will allow you to point the panels toward the sun when you're parked to facilitate greater
energy-collection.
Another consideration you may want to make is whether or not your rotating platform should include hydraulic extensions to
angle the solar panels properly. This is especially important if you plan to travel North or South in your solar power RV. This is because the
latitude in which you are driving will determine the angle at which the sun strikes the solar panels – and subsequently what the optimal
configuration for your panels should be. For instance, if you are camped around the 43rd parallel, you should position your panels at a 43 degree
angle.
The last consideration you will want to make for your solar power RV is whether or not solar panels will be a cost-effective
addition. In almost all cases, they will be, as they can collect and store energy as your drive, but in some cases, if you do not always drive
your solar power RV, you may be better off using a battery block and then recharging it with some other electrical source at the end of each
trip.
